COMMUNION

2 ND SUNDAY: FEBRUARY 14, 2010 LESSON OVERVIEW AND LESSON 1

LESSON GOAL: I will understand that my first love for Christ is what motivates me. LESSON OVERVIEW: The love for Christ is what motivates us to work for Him. Love is a response. We may say it in words but speaks the most when it is shown. When you don’t see God’s grace clearly, you love little. Rather than working hard for God, we must first marvel on God’s great love and grace. Let Jesus love you and reflect that love.

MEMORY VERSE 1 John 4:19-20 (New Living Translation) 19 We love each other because he loved us first. 20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

GAME: Kids! Let us learn a song that we will use in a game... Are you ready? Let us test your memory…

“Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. “Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is strong

. “Jesus loves me! This I ____________ For the _______ tells me so. __________ ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is __________ REPEAT CHORUS

“Jesus loves me! This I know, As He loved so long ago, Taking children on His knee, Saying, ‘Let them come to Me.’ “Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus loves me! This I _____________, As He ___________ so long ago, Taking children on His ____________, Saying, ‘Let them __________ to Me.’ REPEAT CHORUS

“Jesus loves me still today, Walking with me on my way, Wanting as a friend to give Light and love to all who live. “Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus ________ me still today, __________ with me on my way, Wanting as a _________ to give Light and _________ to all who live. REPEAT CHORUS

“Jesus loves me! He who died Heaven’s gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in “Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus _________ me! He who died Heaven’s __________ to open wide; He will _________ away my sin, Let His ____________ child come in. REPEAT CHORUS

“Jesus loves me! He will stay Close beside me all the way; Thou hast bled and died for me, I will henceforth live for Thee. “Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus __________ me! He will stay __________ beside me all the way ; Thou hast __________ and died for me, I will henceforth _________ for thee. REPEAT CHORUS

LESSON 1: LETTING JESUS LOVE ME The song “Jesus Loves Me” claims Christ’s devotion to me, but how can that be true? As a sinner, wouldn’t the holy God despise me? Thankfully, the song is not hopeful delusion but rather sound, biblical theology. While God hated my sin, His love for me compelled Him to give up His beloved Son. Jesus, God the Son, loved us so much He died a terrible death to pay the just penalty for our sins

VERSES TO STUDY 1 John 4:19 (New International Version) 19 We love because he first loved us. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (New International Version) 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

VERSES TO STUDY John 14:15-21 (New International Version) Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit 15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."a

SYNTHESIS Kids, come and lets think of letting Jesus love us… If you will let Jesus love you, it means you must allow Him It means you are giving permission or opportunity. Once you give an oppurtunity to someone, you also give your TRUST. TRUST JESUS… He loves you.

ILLUSTRATION Once you let your friend borrow your DS, PSP, cellphone, books and notebooks… You are entrusting to him or her your property and your time.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. Now letting Jesus love you is entirely different, yes you are allowing Him in your life but instead of you giving your property and time to HIM…it is He who will give you ALL HIS PROPERTY AND TIME (fullness of Life!). Remember our memory verse last month? 1 John 5:12 Let us recite it all together…

IT IS SO WONDERFUL TO LET JESUS LOVE YOU!

3 RD SUNDAY: FEBRUARY 21, 2010 LESSON 2

MEMORY VERSE 1 John 4:19-20 (New Living Translation) 19 We love each other because he loved us first. 20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

LET’S HAVE AN ACTIVITY Divide yourselves into 4 groups. Now choose 2 representatives. Make sure that the 2 representatives have the same height… Now stand and face each other, they shall be called Representative A and B. Ok, now are you ready? This activity is called…. “REFLECTIONS”

Directions The representatives will stand face to face with each other, as in they are in front of the mirror… and then the teacher will narrate a scenario that representative A will perform, simultaneously representative B must copy representative A’s actions. The judges will choose a winning group through the best mirror performance.

GROUP 1 SCENARIO (teacher will read this slowly) You are facing the mirror. You just woke up and yawned, you are still sleepy and then you rubbed your eyes. While you are rubbing your left eye, you suddenly realized that you have a pimple. You drew closer to the mirror to examine your pimples. You started counting 5 pimples on your face. While still facing the mirror you knelt on the floor and prayed for your pimple. The end

GROUP 2 SCENARIO (teacher will read this slowly) You are facing the mirror, you suddenly smiled at yourself. While still looking at the mirror you turned right and then slowly you turned left. While at your left you pinched your nose to see how you look with a nose-lift. You suddenly jumped happily and clapped twice, you remembered its your birthday today. The end.

GROUP 3 SCENARIO (teacher will read this slowly) You are facing the mirror, you placed your hand on your abdomen and you realized that you are hungry. You started biting your nails on your right hand, you scratched your head with your left hand. Then you remembered that you have food. You smiled at yourself in the mirror and got an apple from your pocket and started biting the apple. Your mouth is full, you are still chewing, then you swallowed. The end

GROUP 4 SCENARIO (teacher will read this slowly) You are facing the mirror, you are combing your very long hair its until your knees. You combed and combed, until you realized its time to exercise. You started to jog in place, then you rotated your head to the left, then rotated your head to the right. You went close to the mirror and started to raise both of your eyebrows. You smiled at yourself on the mirror. The end.

SYNTHESIS We have people around us. They unconsciously imitate our words and actions. If we are living for Jesus Christ, it is Him who we must imitate and no one else. We influence at least 80 people in a day. Let us take that opportunity to REFLECT to him or her the love that you have received from Jesus. Reflect God’s Love!

LESSON 2: REFLECTING GOD’S LOVE “God has poured out his love into our hearts,” Paul wrote. We cannot afford to consign these words to mere theological rhetoric. Paul had experienced this love. We too have experienced this love. Its about time to be generous and share the love of the God to others.

VERSES TO STUDY Romans 13:8-10 (New International Version) Love, for the Day is Near 8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet,"[a] and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[b] 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.ab

VERSES TO STUDY John 13:34-35 (The Message) 34-35"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."

IMPRESSIONS poem in “Reflecting God’s Love” Some people come into our lives and don’t impress us much, Still other folks will come along and leave their special touch. I guess the thing this says to me is that we oughta’ live

So if someone is watching us we’ve something good to give Like kindness, love, and gentleness to cheer a lonely heart, And compliments can give a lift if someone’s way is dark.

Some folks may think they are not watched but you can almost bet The things they say and things they do are things some won’t forget. So choose your friends with love and care and really play it smart Because without a doubt they’ll leave their footprints on your heart.
