1 Order In The Court Business Law Mock Trial Project

2 Goal Demonstrate, through mock trial procedures an understanding of the rights and responsibilities that the justice system allocates and the structures that could control the disposition of a case.

3 Role You will be assigned the role of either a judge, lawyer, witness, or juror and work in cooperative groups to develop strategies to represent the prosecution and defense.

4 Audience The audience will be your fellow students in Business Law class.

5 Situation You will role-play in a mock trial in the case of the State of Wisconsin vs. Lee Morgan Nash (2008 Wisconsin High School Mock Trial Tournament case).

6 Product Present the mock trial, playing the role of the offender, witness, attorney, juror, and judge. Use knowledge of the system of the law to present arguments for or against in conjunction with your assigned role.

7 Standards Students must demonstrate their ability to gather, analyze and interpret data, and present. Students must demonstrate critical and logical thinking strategies to correlate the relationships between evidence and explanations. Role-play is “creative”, informative and persuasive. Diagrams may be used to illustrate the situation.
