Amphotericin B is an anti fungal which acts by impairing DNA synthesis. It is a hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic in high doses like gentamycine. It is usually given intravenously or one hour intramuscularely before the surgery. Antibiotic selection depends on common bacteria in the operative site.
