District Revenue  Although 2007 data had to be consistent, 2008/2009 budget and state aid was added to slide #5 to determine if any significant changes have been made fiscally. The data for Smithtown and Center Moriches was difficult to obtain for the 08/09 school year. As a result 2007 was analyzed and chosen because it is the most recent information available for all three of the districts.

Center Moriches Revenue 07’

Smithtown Revenue 07’

Cold Spring Harbor Revenue 07’ State aid amount not available for the 2007 school year. Clearly CSH has more local control over their schools having limited government funding.

Math Regents HS Achievement Although Cold Spring Harbor spent $26,310 per pupil and Smithtown spent $19,154 per pupil, this data indicates that fiscal influence does not apply to this assessment outcome. (Hughes, p.190)

English Language Arts Achievement (grade 8) 2008. Although Center Moriches was spending more per student than Smithtown, they had a lower passing rate. Perhaps this due to the higher number of Hispanics learning English as their population is highest in Center Moriches (Hughes, p.163)
