Ugli (ugly) fruit is grown exclusively in Jamaica. It was discovered 80 years ago growing wild in a forest. The original tree is believed to be a hybrid form of the Seville orange, grapefruit, and tangerines.

Do not be misled by their appearance, which can be lopsided and bumpy. Ugli fruit is very sweet and tangy. Ugli fruit is easily peeled and may be eaten like a tangerine, or cut in half and eaten like a grapefruit.
