1 A Shakespeare Celebration LS 532 AV Club Cindy Lancaster, Patrick Link, Katy Pate, & Jana Watts

2  Target audience-9- 12 th grade/Language Arts  Collaboration among the drama, art, English, & consumer science teachers and the librarian  Week long program (April 23-April 27)  Begins on Shakespeare’s birthday  Ends with spring school play (Twelfth Night)

3  Spark students’ interest in Shakespeare’s literature and life, library materials in general, and the school play  Motivate students to get involved and use the library  Strengthen relationships between the teachers and librarian  Enhance the school curriculum with library materials and services  Promote community awareness of library services

4  Write & share original Sonnets- English classes  Discover, prepare, and taste Elizabethan dishes – Consumer Science  Sketch costumes, design sets, or even create models of Globe theatre- Art  Prepare for the drama department’s spring production of Twelfth Night (Friday)- Drama classes

5  Dress up day - students and faculty dress as their favorite Shakespeare character; visit the library to view displays  Displays: Sonnets from English classes, art projects from art classes, and food photos/recipes from consumer science classes  Additional displays: Shakespeare’s works as well as books and movies based on Shakespeare’s works  After school: Shakespeare games and movies based on Shakespeare’s works

6  Daily trivia contests & fact finders  Share famous Shakespeare quotes during Morning Announcements  Libguide to library resources  Glogster on Shakespeare

8  Bookmarks with Shakespeare quotes available  Themed bulletin boards on display

9  Given during intermission of Twelfth Night  Best costume (one female and one male)  Best art project and sonnet (one student from each grade)  Prizes: will solicit donations from local businesses—giftcards (restaurants, movies, iTunes), prom tickets, tickets to the Shakespeare Festival

10  Write-ups in the community newspaper and school newspaper  Morning announcements  School broadcast  Listserv  Library website  Flyers in the hallways
