4 ELEMENTS Line Shape Texture Colour Value / Tone Space

6 2. Shape Shape is when a line begins and ends at the same point. Shoe, Monte Carlo. Helmut Newton 1983.

7 3. Texture Texture refers to the feel or look of a surface. Each object or shape has a surface which can be enhanced by light and shade. The Pepper, Edward Westen (1930)

8 4. Colour Colour refers to the hues, values, and tones / intensity of visible light. It is the most expressive element along with being the most complex.

10 5. Value / Tone Value represents blacks, whites and shades of grey. Ansel Adams.

11 Tone Tone considers different shade, or tints of a colour. Benoit Paille
