Review: Parts of Speech Noun names a person, place, thing or idea Verb express an action or state of being Adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun and answers these questions: which? what kind of? how many? 12

Poetry Council Steps First Reading: Visualization Second Reading: Noun Third Reading: Verb Fourth Reading: Adjective After each reading you will write for 10 minutes on the word that you identified in the poem. This does not have to be related to the poem but rather how you connect to that word or experience. 13

Extension Activities Council: Dedications Icebreaker Speed rounds in response to poem (one word only) noun verb adjective Response round: recall of one connection. Witness round: Something heard Mood-mover (if needed) Closing appropriate for group. 14
