1 FIRST CONDITIONAL “If” clause + Present Tense + future Example: If we go to the concert on Friday, it will be cheaper.

2  Used to talk about possibilities in the present or future.  If you study hard, you will pass the test. dependent clause independent clause You will pass the test if you study hard.

3  The first conditional can be used to talk about things which may happen:  If it’s sunny, we’ll go to the park.  (it’s possible that it will be sunny, but not guaranteed)

4  If you go to the movies without me, I’ll be mad.  I’ll be mad if you go to the movies without me.  Write your own example.  _________________________________________ _________________________________________

5  We can also use “unless”.  You will be unhappy unless you break up with your girlfriend.  Unless you break up with your girlfriend, you’re going to be unhappy.

6  Alisson won’t go out tonight unless she finishes her project.  If Alisson doesn’t finish her project, she won’t go out tonight.  If you don’t work out, you are not going to lose any weight.  _________________________________________ _________________________________________
