7. www.aesmedical.com Business case benefits 1.Electronic access to cancer pathology reports throughout the network, facilitating management of patients who move across different sites for treatment and diagnostic tests. 2.The Pathology Cancer Standards as laid out in the Manual of Cancer Standards will be achieved. 3.It will be possible to anticipate and meet imminent new standards relating to increased use of cancer minimum datasets and proformas. 4.Standardisation of cancer reporting over the whole of the Strategic Health Authority. 5.Standardisation of histological coding. Currently there are wide inconsistencies in use of SNOMED coding. 6.It will allow effective extraction of information for audit purposes which will facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings, research and reporting to the cancer registry. 7.Provision of a single cancer database for that will facilitate cancer care, audit and research.
