1. Guitar Notes Novel Test Tuesday, Sept. 30 th

Test Format  The test will be open-book!  Because you have your book, you will need to provide specific EVIDENCE to support your answers.  Your answers will require some analysis (not opinions); you will need to INFER the answer using EVIDENCE  You will have to write in complete sentences  There are only 5 questions  You are required to make complete thoughts, spell words correctly (esp. in the evidence part), and write page numbers.

3. What can I do to prepare?  Read the book Guitar Notes  Annotate what you read: underline/circle important things, make comments in the margins that help you understand what you’ve read  Reread over what you’ve annotated  Practice! Think of possible questions and write our your answers using evidence. Chances are you come on Test Day knowing exactly where to find support for your answer.

4. What do I need to know?  Hair color, shoe brand, and minor details are not important for the open-book test  Know the 6 story elements, esp. conflict  Novels often have more than one conflict (related to characters)  How do the conflicts resolve themselves? YOU WILL DO GREAT!!!
