3 Early Jet Engines Doctor Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle were credited with the creation and idea The first jet flew on August 27, 1939 The first Jet Fighter was the German “Heinkel” The jet changed the way we fought in WW2. It allowed us to get to foreign countries faster and more efficiently.

5 Differences Between Then and Now The jets today are faster They are tougher They use a compressor now Back then they used a large fan which added weight and bulk to the engine.
