Cell Quiz
2
Match the Cell Organelle with the function: ____1. Jelly-like material found in the cell. Contains organelles & where most cell processes take place. ____2. Acts as cell’s clean up crew by digesting worn out organelles & molecules. ____3. Stores water, salt, & other molecules. Oversized in plants to enable them to support flowers & leaves. ____4. Acts like transportation system by modifying & exporting materials. Has 2 forms, smooth & rough. (Highway) ____5. Modifies, sorts, and packages cellular materials. (Mailman)
3
Please put the letter next to the organelle which the arrow is pointing to. 1. ___ Nucleus 2. ___ Cell Membrane 3. ___ Golgi Apparatus 4. ___ Mitochondria 5. ___ Endoplasmic Reticulum 6. ___ Ribosome

Cell Organization
5
Multicellular Organisms Organisms made up of many cells. These cells work together so the organism can feed, digest, excrete wastes, and reproduce.
6
Cell Specialization Multicellular organisms benefit from cell specialization. Cells that specialize in certain functions come in a variety of shape and sizes, each designed to carry out a special function.

Cell Organization The cell is the smallest functional unit in the body. In order for our bodies to carry out larger more specific functions groups of cells work together. It is organized as follows: Cells Tissues Organs Organ Systems
9
Tissues Tissues are a group of cells that are similar in shape and function. There are 4 major kinds of cells: –Epithelial cells –Nerve cells –Connective Cells –Muscle Cells Each cell is responsible for a specific function
10
Organs Tissues are organized into larger structures called organs. Many organs are composed of many different types of tissues. Each organ has at east one function.
11
Organ Systems Organ systems are groups of organs that have related functions. For example: The Circulatory system includes the heart; arteries, capillaries, and veins that all carry blood and waste from the heart to the tissues and back. Nerve tissue, epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue and blood cells are all found in the circulatory system.
12
Major Organ Systems There are 8 major organ systems in the body: –Circulatory System –Nervous System –Respiratory System –Digestive System –Muscle System –Skeletal System –Excretory System –Endocrine System
