5. The issues are such as the argument in regards to the method of baptism whether it be: Immersed or Sprinkling or Affusion?

11. John the Baptist’s preaching and ministry involved the act of outward baptism. It is important to understand the method and purpose of his baptism.

12. John 1:26 26 John answered them saying, “I baptize in water... Matthew 3:11 11 “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance Mark 1:4 4 …appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 3:6 (also in verse 6)...they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins.

13. John’s baptism was a water baptism which was an outward act of repentance by a person from their sins in order to receive God’s forgiveness (Luke 3:3).

He went up out of the water (Matthew 3:16) 5. Jesus was praying (Luke 3:21) 6. Heavens opened & Holy Spirit descends (Mark 1:10) 7. God the Father speaks to Jesus (Matthew 3:17)

22. Jesus underwent baptism as He represented all mankind- He did it for US! (Luke 3:23-38). 2 Corinthians 5:21 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

24. His baptism thus was not only symbolic event but a transformative event for us.
