4. PUPA A full grown caterpillar spins a case around itself. The larva is now called a chrysalis or pupa. Inside the chrysalis the body changes in many ways until it becomes an adult. This pupa is hanging from a thin peace of silk.

5. ADULT BUTTERFLY The newly formed butterfly emerges through the chrysalis. The adult butterfly sits for a while, until it is ready to fly. It tries out its wings. One day it may lay eggs of its own, and new caterpillars start to grow. This butterfly is flying over a leaf. It may lay some eggs.
