3. Singular Possessive
Possessive means the noun possesses or owns something.
Singular possessive means one noun owns something.
To show possession, we add an apostrophe and an s.
The girl’s dress.
The boy’s shoe.

5. Plural Possessive
Possessive means the noun possesses or owns something.
Plural possessive means more than one noun owns something. Add -s, -es, or -ies.
To show possession, we add an apostrophe AFTER the s. We don’t add an s because there is already an s there.
We see some birds’ nests.
The boxes’ lids were closed.
