3 The coaching process  You coach people not sport  Coaching is relational  Fun and fundamentals  Motivation  Coaching children and youth has its own set of unique challenges

4 Becoming competent and confident  Knowledge base (sports and teaching knowledge)  Planning  Management and organisation  Performance and learning

5 Support for the novice coach  Mentoring/critical friend  Club support, opportunity to talk about coaching  Reflection  A good manager (border guard)
