2 Connect-  When do we use paragraphs? Can you think of 3 examples?  Time Topic Place Person  How will we show it is a new paragraph?

3 Activate: Nervously, he crawled through the overgrown jungle, careful not to alert the soldier who was hunting him. Matt Montague was desperate to make his way back to his base, back to safety before his beautiful girlfriend, Sarah Capulet, found out that he had lied about this mission. “Don’t worry,” I had reassured, “It is just a routine peace keepers role.” How furious would she be and it would be pure agony for her. Suddenly there was a rustling sound behind him and he realised he had been tricked. It slowly dawned on him that he was surrounded by the dreaded Alberto Capulet and his cousins, who were jealous of Matt because … Where should the new paragraph go?

4 Demonstrate: Planning An Exciting Middle  Add a problem?  Include a threat?  Introduce an accident or a deliberate act?  Does something go wrong?  Does a new person arrive and create a problem?

5 Remember to make it exciting and use descriptive words.  Try to write the middle part of your story. Think of how to plan this part in two paragraphs.  Will you use different time / new action / new place / new person talking?

6 Consolidation Discuss your work with a partner. Have you included an exciting event? Which type of event have you included? Have you organised your writing in paragraphs? Have you used descriptive words? What could you do to improve your work?

7 Objectives: We are learning to plan for an exciting and entertaining ending. We are learning to write in paragraphs.

8 Connect: Clever Endings What will be your clever ending?  It was tense because …  It was unexpected as the reader might have thought…  It was clever as it punished the bully, …  My ending was tragic because…

9 Endings could be…? Dramatic  Terrifying  A ghostly ending  A cliff hanger A funny twist  Mysterious  Secret being revealed  Tragic – very sad

10 Demonstrate : Plan your ending. What type of ending will you choose?  What three things will happen in the end? Keep your writing neat.  Remember to use descriptive words and write in paragraphs.

11 Consolidation: Read your story to your partner. Peer Marking  Is the ending of the story dramatic or tense or funny or scary or a clever twist?  Place Person  Topic / Event Time  Has the story being written in paragraphs.  Why were paragraphs used?

12 Connect  G – What was good in your piece of writing?  I – What do you need to improve?  Opportunities to improve –now make the improvements.
