Vanderbilt Electronic OR Board Navigation and Use

Use of eOR Board Vanderbilt uses an electronic OR board available from any clinical workstation This board may be used to see schedule changes as well as patient status When indicated by the eOR board patient is either “not ready” (holding room tasks to be done), “ready” in holding, and/or “ready” to be taken into OR (OR is ready, holding tasks completed)

eORboard in VPIMS Apps Open eOR board after selecting VPIMS apps eOR board has running list of all cases in all suites along with status and whether room is “ready for patient”

Selecting Suite and Removing HIPAA Filters Select “site” from pulldown menu Select “HIPAA” from preferences Enter VUNet- ID and epassword to remove filter showing pt. info

OR/Case Status Case status is demonstrated by color Yellow, not here Light green, here (ready for OR if green dot upper left hand corner) Light blue, in progress Dark blue, closing Pink, in PACU Gray, discharged Anticipated start/end times designated by case bar

Patient, Holding Room Status “D” signifies a “direct” transport to OR from the unit A red ball signifies that holding room tasks are not completed A green ball signifies that holding room tasks are completed

Patient Location Patient location may be designated in the case bar as well Patient may be in “Recovery slot 6” or in “reception” doing paperwork

Surgeon and OR Status A surgeon icon signifies that the surgeon is here and if light is green the holding room is ready When the OR is ready and the patient may be brought back as “ready” is noted on the case bar

Steps in Bringing Patient to OR Holding room report and checkoff with nurse (consent, ID, site/side marking, antibiotic verification, OR destination) Verify that attending anesthesiologist is available If indicated by eORboard bring patient to the OR
