3 Portal Web Site A website considered as an entry point to other websites, often by being or providing access to a search engine. Provides a variety of services that people use everyday such as general news and business information. Easy to access variety of information from one single location.

4 News Web Site A news site is a web site with the primary purpose of reporting up to date news.web site

5 Informational Web Site Provides a person with useful information These can be news sites, government sites, public interest sites

6 Business/Marketing Web Site E-Commerce sites – buying and selling goods and sevices over the Internet. Corporate Presence sites – provide info about company’s products or services, history of company and promote positive image for company.

7 Educational Web Site Provide information about school or university Could be class schedules, courses offered, distance learning Could be museum sites as well…teaching about exhibits or events

8 Entertainment Web Site Any site that provides entertainment Games, TV, Movies, etc.

9 Advocacy Web Site An advocacy website contains content that describes a cause, opinion, or idea (i.e. business/marketing sites). These web sites usually present views of a particular group or association. Sponsors of advocacy websites include the Democratic National Committee, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Society to Protect Human Rights.
