3
Who am I and how did I end up in front of you??
4
Entering the classroom When you enter the classroom, make your way quickly to your desk. Check the board for materials needed in class that day. Use the student cabinet if you are missing something. (Don't make this a habit.) Set up the pages in your notebook. Write the homework in your notebook and agenda. (nice to have it twice) Immediately begin warm-up.
5
Warm-up Read and follow directions carefully. (It will either review the following day or preview the upcoming lesson) Make sure that your work is high quality.(It will set the tone for your learning that day.) Do not waste time getting started!! Every minute of every lesson is valuable!!
6
Announcements The expectation during announcements is that you will be silent and actively listening. (Especially 1st and last block) While the current announcement may not interest you, another announcement another day may. Show respect to the people listening and giving the announcements.
7
Checking Homework As you are completing your warm-up, have your homework out so I can check to see that it is completed. When I come around is not the time to dig around for it or ask to get it from your locker. I will check for completion, and scan for quality. We will review homework as a class and then you will have time for questions and clarifications.
8
Late Assignments Late assignments will be turned in on the shelves on my desk. It is your responsibility to make sure that it goes in the correct shelf. Late work is graded after everything else. The second time in a row homework is not completed you will have working lunch. A phone call home the 3rd. Use parent assist frequently to make sure that you are not missing assignments.
9
Bathroom/Nurse/Office Agenda must be filled out and only need my signature before you bring it to me. While I do not limit the number of times you can use the bathroom, if it becomes an everyday occurrence I will need to alter this policy for individuals. Once your agenda is filled out, raise your agenda into the air and I will know what you need without having to disrupt the class.
10
Grading Late work automatically loses points. Refer to your prospectus for loss of points. Follow instructions and rubrics to assure that you achieve the maximum points possible. 45% Tests, Projects; 45% Assignments, quizzes; 10% homework Don't get a C for turning in an A project late.
11
Asking for help Please, please, please ask for help. I will explain something as many ways as needed to help you gain understanding. With this in mind, I will move as quickly as possible. Once I acknowledge you, you don't need to continually get my attention. PET PEEVE: Being disruptive or off task while I am helping a student drives me insane!!!! You must not interfere with another students learning.
12
Active Listening Body language tells me something about you, and it tells your brain something about your readiness to learn. Sit up, face the speaker, and process what is being said. Write notes on important information being shared or questions you may have. Don't have side conversations. (even silent ones) Listen to the entire presentation and then ask questions or make judgements
13
Locker Policy You will go to your lockers in the morning and before 4th block. Keep that in mind and carry what you need with you. You will not be allowed to go to your locker to get homework. You must turn in all your paperwork before you are issued a locker. Lock your locker!!!
14
Lunch/Activity We will line-up in the back of the classroom prior to leaving for activity. The expectation is that you will be silent in the hall to and FROM activity/lunch. Get your food quickly and then go directly to our assigned table for lunch. After you are seated you will need to get a teachers attention should you need to get up again. Do not just get up and wander around. We will go directly from activity to lunch. We are assigned a location and activity. Their is no discussion. Everyone will participate so make the best of it. I need table washers. Volunteers will for the quarter will receive credit for their community service.
15
Schedule for the Day The schedule for the day is always posted on the left of the smartboard. It is set up just like our notebook pages. On the right side of the board their will be an assigned student from each class to read the essential question and objectives at the beginning of class and then answer the question at the end(kick some knowledge). The list will go in alphabetical order.
16
Moving Around the Room If you need to sharpen your pencil, turn in late work, move to a computer, ect. Walk to the back of the room and then to your destination. It is your responsibility not to disturb others. Do not ask to throw something away. Unless it is on fire it will be ok until the end of class. If it is on fire then we have another issue altogether. Please do not just get up without signaling me to let me know what you need to do.
17
Visitors People will be in and out of our room frequently. Remain focused on the task at hand. If they ask you a question, answer it completely and then return to work. If we have a substitute, just follow all the expectations as if I were here.
18
Tutoring I am available every morning the entire year for tutoring. Just give me one days notice so I can plan for less time to prepare for the day. I will tutor social studies and test taking.
19
Informal Write-ups I will not disrupt class for your disruptions or off-task behavior. I will place an informal write-up on you desk indicating what you did to receive said write-up and just keep on teaching. There are a few lines for you to explain how you can avoid further write-ups. We will both sign it and you will HAND it to me at the end of class. The first 2 are warnings. The third is a formal write-up(lunch detention) and a parent contact.

Leaving the Classroom ROCK R eflect (L,R,W,S) O rganize C lean K ick some knowledge

End of the Day Dismissal Once announcements begin the expectation is that you will become silent. We need to hear busses that are here and changes that are called. I will need a student to create a smartfile to make checking busses easier. You may begin homework for my class or any class, or you may read.
