Motivation In the current IEEE 802.16m Amendment Working Document (IEEE 802.16m-09/0010), the miniband permutation formula in the section 15.3.5.2.2 (DL) and 15.3.8.2.2 (UL) is TBD So far, there have been many miniband permutation formulas proposed by each company This contribution reviews those rules and suggests one miniband permutation formula used for both DL and UL.

Miniband Permutation Permutes the PRU MB s to insure frequency diverse PRUs are allocated to each frequency partition. Miniband permutation

Miniband Permutations Considered LGE ’ s proposed MB permutation where

Miniband Permutations Considered Intel (IEEE 802.16m-08/1508r1) where PermSeq(k) is the k-th elelment of the S- Random permutation sequence of length L MB from the table Samsung (IEEE 802.16m-08/1508r1) where BRO k (y) indicates the bit-reversed k-bit value of y

Miniband Permutations Considered Motorola (IEEE 802.16m-08/1508r1) ITRI (IEEE 802.16m-08/1508r1)

Miniband Permutations Considered ZTE (IEEE 802.16m-08/1508r1) where

Investigation on Miniband Permutation of Each Company LGE Selecting one miniband per each subband in order Samsung Selecting one miniband per each subband in order When L MB is not the integer multiple of subband size ( N 1 ), it does not work Usually, L MB is the integer multiple of subband size (N 1 ) But, L_MB could not be in the unit of N 1, e.g., when considering guard- carriers (which could not be in the unit of N 1 ) Intel We don’t need to use the permutation sequence table designed for subcarrier permutation in miniband permutation Motorola Dividing total L MB minibands into 4 groups and selecting one miniband per each group in order Could be worse when # of miniband per freq. partition is smaller than 4, e.g., L MB =12 & FPCT=4 with equal BW When L MB is not the integer multiple of subband size ( N 1 ), it does not work

Conclusions Most proposals show the similar diversity gain in terms of LLS results Please refer to Intel’s contribution (IEEE C802.16m-09/0251) LGE’s proposed MB permutation is simple and has no restriction on L MB size
