Successful workshop on “implementation of WIS in Asia” hosted by JMA. –Typical of role expected of GISC Need to develop training programmes etc. Hard work still ahead but resources have waned. Thank those Members who have contributed but need contributions to WIS trust fund and secondments, JPOs, etc.

WIS is an exemplar component of GEOSS. More work needs to be done on coordination with RAs and TCs –Especially in coordination of user requirements and revision of Tech Regs There remains a significant role for the ICG-WIS

WIS Part B - Some issues to address –Implementation of GISCs and DCPCs –First GISC done. Late starting but on track for Cg XVI –WIS Centre Identification process. –On track Need Cg XVI to endorse designation procedures.
