3.  Horizontal authority is the authority of the Word ◦ It is limited to the Word  Vertical authority is for leadership ◦ Limited in scope of authority ◦ Cannot conflict with Word  The pastor? ◦ Vertical Authority as pastor under the Session ◦ Vertical Authority personally under the Presbytery

4.  Choose your authorities well  Cultivate an inclination to support your leaders  Work at encouraging good leadership  Deal with the difficulties  Defend your authority carefully  Challenge authority under authority

6.  Your sin is the greatest enemy you have  You can’t be restored if you don’t submit to spiritual people  You can’t be restored if you can’t be caught
