This chapter covers the Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W Bush administrations and their effects on both the American People and foreign Countries
Zinn argues that the Democrats and Republican parties keep the government essentially the same and continues to have a militant foreign policy no matter which party was in power.
Zinn use similarities between the administration's methods as proof of this

Ronald Reagan: 40th President of the United States prior to that,he was 33rd Governor of California
Jimmy Carter: American politician who served as the 39th President of the United States and was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize
Richard Nixon: 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974, when he became the only president to resign the office
Patricia Harris: served in the administration of President Jimmy Carter as United States Secretary of Health, Education, and welfare
Eula Bingham: an American scientists who is best known as Assistant Secretary of labor for Occupational Safety and Health during the Carter Administration

5. Historical Significance
Scandals of Watergate came after the war in Vietnam
American were not going to be affected by Carter’s policies whether conservatives or liberal
Reagan insisted he would still balance the budget because the tax cuts would so stimulate the economy as the generate new revenue
Democrats often joined Republicans in denouncing welfare program

6. Was there any changes?
Carter, Reagan & Bush did not bring forth any type of change. Whether it was the Democratic or Republican party in charge, remained the same
Decrease voter participation due to Presidents not providing the needs of the people
Voters did not have a say

7. Political Promises Political promises were not fulfilled
Carter’s promises to cut the military budget. He expanded it to trillions dollars
Carter’s were conservative and based their political goals on advancing American business. American business became international business only controlled solely by American Business
During 1990s, economy was in bad shape, The Reagan and Bush administrations used this as an excuse to increase corporate profits and cuts to those in need
Budget cuts destroyed programs that benefitted the people

In 1982 million people were unemployed all or part of the year
During the Reagan Administration 90% were put on the research into renewable energy
