MDMA stands for 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine. MDMA is more commonly knows as ecstasy. Ecstasy can come in tablet, pill, powder, and crystal form. It starts out as a stimulant, but in time it becomes a depressant. MDMA was being used recreationally in the United States by 1970. It continued to grow in popularity. Can cause euphoria, anxiety, paranoia, impaired attention, emotional sensitivity, dizziness, etc… Mainly used for its euphoria effects and emotional sensitivity. Criminalized in most countries.

(continued) In 2008 the UN estimated between 10-25 million people globally used MDMA at least once in the past year. Many studies has suggested that MDMA can help in therapy and other fields.

How it enters the body MDMA enters the body through the: Mouth Nose (vaporization) Rectum Injections (Rare…but here has been some reports)

The Bad/Effects Disorientation and/or confusion Agitation, restlessness and paranoia Hallucinations and/or delusions Thought disorder or disorganized thinking Cognitive and memory impairment potentially to the point of retrograde or anterograde amnesia Convulsions Hyperactivity Rapid breathing and or shortness of breath Palpitations Severe chest pain, as well as pulmonary hypertension Destruction of blood vessels Cardiac dysfunction, arrest, myocardial infarction, and/or heart failure Loss of consciousness Coma or death

The Good/Medical Use Lately MDMA has been suggested to help in psychotherapy. It was even used until it became illegal. It was also used to treat mild psychiatric disorders. May also…. serve as pain relief to cancer patients. help people going through PTSD.

Interesting Facts Was originally used in 1941 as an appetite suppressant. In high doses, MDMA can interfere with the body’s ability to regulate temperature. This can cause hypothermia and heat attacks. MDMA was first synthesized in 1912 by Merck chemist Anton Köllisch. At the time, Merck was interested in developing substances that stopped abnormal bleeding.
