2 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing Set up –Children work initially in pairs –One ball per pair –Children run from try line to try line passing ball behind them as coach calls ‘TAG!’

3 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing Aim –The aim of this drill is to: Practice passing rearwards whilst running Practice passing on call of ‘TAG!’ Promote running with the ball in 2 hands Practice the correct try scoring technique Player 2 positioning behind player with the ball Speed (Increasing as players become familiar with the drill)

5 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing GO! Players run towards try line

6 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing TAG! Blue passes to Green

7 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing TAG! Green sprints ahead

8 Marlow RFC Under 7s TAG Drills – Passing TAG! Green passes to Blue Blue scores a try

9 Marlow RFC Under 7s Skills –Ensure receiving player can see back of the ball carrier’s shirt (avoids forward passes) –Passing player must always look at receiving player –Passer’s hands end up pointing in direction of pass Variations –If enough coaches have coach run with players calling ‘TAG!’ –Increase to 3 players with 2 running behind ball carrier TAG Drills – Passing
