It combines best-practice pedagogy with next-gen technology that enables your school to customize content and settings while providing an opportunity for students to learn at their own pace and make meaningful academic gains. URL for your course content: http://student.education2020.comhttp://student.education2020.com You will receive your username and password from your instructor at orientation. You will also do a quick orientation assignment acclimating you to the e2020 learning environment. Be sure to follow the recommended assignment calendar all summer! Each lesson includes vocabulary, a lecture, and some opportunity for applied practice before taking a short quiz. Please save all of the practice assignments you do for each lesson in folders organized by lesson. You will submit these assignments for points on the proctored test days. At the end of each unit you will take a topic test. You will also be taking two proficiency tests which must be scheduled and proctored by the deadline dates. The first test will be on Microsoft Word. The second test will be on Power Point and Excel. You will need a fairly fast computer with Java, Flash and Adobe updates installed so that lectures play properly. If technology becomes an issue please contact your instructor immediately.

3 COMPUTER APPLICATIONS Ms. Garrett Summer School What will be covered in Computer Applications? As you know … Computers are EVERYWHERE! Being able to use Microsoft Office gives you an important leg up as you navigate through school and your professional life. This is a one semester course takes you through Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Topics covered include: Microsoft Word -- starting a document in Word, formatting content, using Word Tools, and columns, charts, styles and tables. Microsoft Excel: Worksheet basics, creating and formatting data and content, analyzing data using formulas and functions, adding charts and graphs, and managing workbooks. Microsoft Power Point – presentation basics, creating content and collaborating, formatting content with presentation designs and templates, utilizing slide masters and schemes, animating and managing presentations As you can see, you will have time to explore each program in great detail! Grading Every assignment in e2020 will be graded so please do your best on all of them. Please note that e2020 assigns scores to most assignments. I will always go back and grade the assignment myself to insure that the grade is accurate and fair. If you fail a quiz or test, you may “get stuck” and need the teacher to approve a retake before moving on. Try to avoid that! Be sure to save all of the “Apply Your Knowledge” work as you move through the course! The class is weighted as follows: 30% -- Assignments (Vocab, Lectures, Apply Your Knowledge, Practice/Homework) 20% -- Quizzes (in e2020) 20% -- Topic Tests (in e2020) 15% -- Word Processing Test – must be taken at Huron by July 12 th. 15% -- Power Point and Excel Test – must be taken at Huron by July 31st.
