3 Definition The term "telelearning" consists of the word "tele" (Greek: "far") and the word "learning". Telelearning describes a learning situation where teacher and student are at different places. This separation can be temporary or permanent.

4 Introduction The classical forms of communication are letter mail, telephone and fax, they are more and more replaced by email. A distinguisher is the temporal organization of communication and the selection of technical communication media, linked with it. Here the two terms asynchronous and synchronous communication are of an important role. 7 Asynchronous Telelearning The asynchronous telelearning is temporally delayed. For example, if the student receives a task, which he solves independently, teachers and students are not required to be online at the same time. Communication takes place with a delay. Email is one of the most used services which allows sending text, video and audio content.
