Life in the Army 2 million men served in the Union Army Less then 1 million serve in the Confederate Army They enlisted for many different reasons Some out of loyalty Excitement Glory Boredom Money

Unhealthy conditions Military Camps were filthy Soldiers were filthy Bodies, clothing, and bedding became infested with lice and fleas Resulted in sickness Doctors didn’t wash their hands More solders die of disease then battle

Life in War Prison Camps Prisoners had a hard time at prison camps both at the north and south Elmira, New York Andersonville Georgia Drinking water came from a tiny creek that also served as a sewer.

Civil War Technology Your Task Your table will research your assigned topic and summarize it in 2-4 sentences One person from your group will stay to explain the assigned tables technology Everyone else will rotate from table to table to gain the other information You are to record your answers from each table in your notebook At the end each group will explain to the class as a whole their topic and how it made an impact in the Civil War.
