3 Take notes on the following: When looking at poetry, we need to ensure that we always examine the punctuation. The poetry at the ends of lines is exceptionally important as it connects to rhythm and tone.

4 Types of punctuation: End-stop: a line that ends with STOP punctuation: period, semi- colon, or comma BOYSFAN. ALWAYS circle the STOP punctuation for an end-stopped line. When reading lines, read to the end-stop.

5 Types of punctuation: Enjambment: the continuation of a syntactic unit from one line or couplet of a poem to the next with no pause. This creates rhythm and tone.
