The Meaning Of Sound Doctrine Doctrine = teaching (1 Tim. 4:16; 2 Tim. 2:2) Sound From Hugiaino “To be sound, to be well, to be in good health” Our English “Hygiene” is derived from this word Used ten times in 1 Timothy-Titus

Usage Titus 2:1. Not just anything 2 Timothy 1:13. Be tenacious, yet kind 2 Timothy 4:3. Some won’t want it or have it Commended (1 Tim. 4:6). [more later] Reminder of their charge (2 Tim. 4:1- 4)

The Example Of Paul History at Ephesus (Acts 20:17-28) Calls them to remember (Acts 20:18) He held nothing back (Acts 20:20-21) Declare “the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27) Even warned them about future problems (Acts 20:29-30) Commended them to the word of God (Acts 20:32)

When before the governor Felix (and Drusilla), what was his message? “Now as he reasoned about righteous- ness, self-control, and the judgment to come…” (Acts 24:25a) Is that what would happen today? If it was left out, would it be sound doctrine?

Later Paul appeared before a different governor, Festus, and King Agrippa (and Bernice) (Acts 26:23) At the end of his defense he relates his conversion (note Acts 26:17-23) Festus thinks Paul has lost his mind (Acts 26:24) Paul presses Agrippa (Acts 26:26-28). Is that what would happen today? If it were left out, would it be sound doctrine?
