Events Leading Up To This Epistle… The letter was carried from Rome to Colossae by Tychicus & Onesimus Not stated as in Eph 6:21-22 & Col 4:7-9 However, given Onesimus was from Colossae & was Philemon’s runaway slave, this is the most logical conclusion

Philemon Events Leading Up To This Epistle… The letter is a heart-felt appeal by Paul Onesimus had run away, met Paul in Rome, and had been converted vv. 10-14, 16-17 A story of Divine providence v. 15a A story of brotherly love & forgiveness vv. 8-9, 12, 15b-18

Philemon Events Leading Up To This Epistle… Only here (v. 22) and in Phil 1:19-20, 25-26 does Paul reveal his expectations re: being released from the 1st Roman imprisonment He requests that Philemon prepare a room for him at his house
