1 Conventions for Web Designers

2  DO NOT: ◦ Use capital letters or spaces in names ◦ Use punctuation or symbols  DO: ◦ Use names that are easily recalled ◦ Use prefixes to group like files ◦ Name you main HTML file “index.htm”

3  Dreamweaver has already created a folder called WebGeeks, now we will make one for your personal work.  Your name folder is where you will keep all your assignments.  It is essential to setup the local folders in the correct location and way so you may change computers without losing your work.  Any other folders you create for your work with go inside your name folder.

4  Click to open Windows Explorer

5  Under Libraries, click on Documents and open folders until you open WebGeeks

6  Right click on the right side panel and select New and then select New Folder

7  Type in the highlighted name space your last and first name, all lower-case, no spaces.  For example, my name is Layne Ward, so I would name the folder wardlayne.
