Configuring a New Program in PLC’s Window 7

Step 1 Click on the Blank Paper icon to begin a new program

Step 2A The “Select Processor Type” box will appear

Step 2B Using the scroll handle on the side of the selection window, scroll down until you find the processor “1747-L532 and OS300 at the end”

Step 2C Click on that line to highlight it in blue, then click the OK block at the top right corner

Step 3 The screen should change into the basic programming screen seen here

Step 3 Now click on the IO Configuration line to begin to configure the program to the PLC

Step 5 The IO Configuration Screen should pop up and the CPU description should already be on the first line

Step 5 Click the Dropdown arrow for box 1 to select the Rack size. We are using a seven slot rack, so choose 1749A7 7-Slot Rack

Step 6 Click the Dropdown arrow for Filter and select Inputs

Step 7 Grab the Scroll handle and scroll down to the item 1746-IB16, highlight it and click on it. The slot marked 1 should now have the same description

Step 7 Click on slot 3, go over to the Inputs table and click on the same description as before. Now 1 and 3 should be 1746-IB16

Step 8 Click the Dropdown arrow for Filter and select Outputs

Step 9 Click on slot 2 and 4, go over to the Outputs table and click on the description 1746- OB16.

Step 10 The Configuration should now have Slots 0 through 4 filled. Now click on the X at the upper right hand corner of the Configuration Box to save the application

Step 11 Now click on the Controller Properties line to continue to configure the program to the PLC

Step 12 The Controller Properties Box Should open up. Check to make sure the Processor Type is the correct processor, and if it is not click on the selector arrow and correct the processor name

Step 13 Now click on the Controller Communications tab

Step 14 Make sure the Driver application is AB_DF1- 1, and if not click the select arrow and select AB_DF1-1, then click the OK button

Step 16 Now click on the Channel Configuration line to continue to configure the program to the PLC

Step 17 The Channel Configuration window will pop up. Click on the Chan. 0 – System tab

Step 18 Click on the selection arrow for Baud rate and select 19200. Then click Apply and then OK.

Make sure the Main Power switch is turned on This should end the configuration procedure and the PLC is ready to accept a new program
