Opening Act You were just hired as a member of a childhood obesity task force in your community. The task force wants to decrease the incidence of overweight children by 10% within the next 10 years. 1) Who should the task force involve in this process? 2) What recommendations would you propose? At what levels and locations would programs be implemented? 3) Would it be possible to reach the task force’s stated goal?

Seminar Question: Design a Program Pete is a 29 year old morbidly obese man. His weight is 315 pounds (height is 5’9”). Pete is seeking to lose weight and knows exercise is part of the weight loss process. Pete is willing to follow your recommendations, but he doesn’t want to “diet”. 1) What assessments/testing would you recommend? 2) What exercise program would you recommend? 3) What advice if any would you offer on Pete’s diet? Can he successfully lose weight without making dietary changes?
