Update on children oSome time in May, one of the children left. PJ had already paid her fees for UKG but mother took her home. 3 children came to PJ during the summer: –Child 1 (1.5 years) – after 2 months, mother took her back –Child 2 (4 years old) – LKG – mother left the house, father was unable to care for her, so he left the child at PJ. She is a quiet and lovely child. –Child 3 (4 years old) – LKG – she was recently orphaned. Her mother passed away, and she had lost her father before that. Relatives sent her to PJ. She is a quiet and well-adjusted. The younger children play with her and Child 2. oAll in all, there has been one 1 additional child at PJ, so total number of children presently is 24. oDuring summer holidays, children from first standard went to the summer camp for one month. They learnt drawing, painting, craft, music and dance. Children are healthy and active. The marks cards are not given yet oThe children are healthy, happy and lively. oThe children completed their first semester exams on October 7, 2010. oOn Saturdays, children attend classes on values and Indian culture.

Budget Re-Cap PJ’s initial estimated budget for Education was 350,000 Rupees Asha approved 302,000 Rupees based on specific items in the breakdown of the Education budget for the school-going children at PJ:- ParticularsAmount (Rs.) Budget Revision PJ provided a revised estimate for Educational expenses = 273,958 Rupees Additionally, during the last review, we only considered educational expenses of the school-going children; however, there are 2 young girls who do not attend school but are supported by an Asha donor. These girls finished school but could not pursue higher education or obtain work, so they help at PJ. The estimate for their living expenses is 2,000 Rupees/month = 2 x 2000 x 12 = 48,000 Rupees Total expenses for 24 children = 321,958 Rupees (~US$7100)
