Depression: Episode – A period of despair (2 Kings 19)
Clinical – Long periods of sadness; irritability; loss of interest in activities once enjoyed; change in weight or appetite; change in sleep patterns; feelings of guilt; hopelessness; worthlessness, inability to concentrate & remember or make decisions; fatigue; restlessness; thoughts of suicide.

Depression Causes: Jeremiah, the weeping prophet: Jeremiah 19:14 -20:10, 14-18 Frustration – 20:7a – James 4 Rejection – 20:7b-8, 9 – 2 Tim 4:2-4; 1:4 Fear – 20:10 – Luke 18:1; Gal 6:9; Psa 27:13 Depression didn’t overcome his faith – 20:11-13

Defeating Depression:
Life IS peaks and valleys! Examples: (2 Pet 1:16-2:3; Matt 17) Prayer, Bible reading, assembly times, service to others & hospitality.

Life IS peaks and valleys! God never leaves His children! Examples: (1 Pet 5:6-7; Heb 13:5-6; Psa 91) We may lose sight of Him, but He never loses sight of us.

Life is peaks and valleys! God never leaves His children! Give thanks everyday! Example: (1 Thess 5:17-18; 2 Cor 11:23-28) God means the good & bad to “work together for [your] good” (Rom 8:28).
