doc.: IEEE 802.11-15/1447r0 Submission LRLP Architectural Components LRLP STA - only LRLP operation, only STA function –Narrowband operation (RX and TX) provides benefit for both power and range. AP (LRLP + HEW/VHT/and predecessors) –Integrated Capability –Primary target is entry-level, low cost AP implementation –HEW is mandatory to provide the coexistence modes needed by LRLP –Other PHYs (60 GHz etc) could be co-resident, LRLP is band- agnostic) –Common silicon, common RF, PA, antenna, etc Slide 6

doc.: IEEE 802.11-15/1447r0 Submission LRLP Architectural Components (2) Gateway Device (aka Mobile Hub) –20 MHz capable STA –Able to sense 20 MHz devices –Able to manage coexistence of LRLP STA using same mechanisms as full-function AP Is LRLP IBSS supported? TBD – probably not. –Does not support coex, power mgmt., or use cases LRLP Link – a WLAN path that uses a different modulation or channel width to achieve long range/low power in a band with a pre-existing 802.11 PHY. Slide 7

doc.: IEEE 802.11-15/1447r0 Submission Coexistence Call For Contributions Solutions for hidden node problem Solutions for OBSS issues including LRLP STAs Understanding of NB waveform and WB 802.11 receiver? What does the NB PPDU look like to the ED and CCA functions in WB STA? How would low duty cycle of LRLP devices affect coexistence? How much a duty cycle limit and/or Medium Occupancy Limit help? –How is this affected by large populations of sensors or LRLP devices that may be associated with a single AP? Slide 8

doc.: IEEE 802.11-15/1447r0 Submission Other topics for Call for Contributions Request for use case presenters to provide quantification of the use cases. –Duty Cycle –Range –Number of devices –Throughput –Power / battery life Expectation to create table of use cases mapping to quantified requirements. doc.: IEEE 802.11-15/1447r0 Submission Collaboration with existing.11 TGs Review need for collaboration and joint meetings with other 802.11 TGs –This may be premature, based on 802.11ax work load. Other TGs may have relevant topics for collaboration as well. –Alternative is to request collaboration with specific contributors to TGax. Slide 10Tim Godfrey (EPRI) November 2015
