After the BA, enrollment in a 1 year Credential program 2 semesters of teaching in the schools and night courses on campus Apply last semester of BA - Usually March 1st and October 1st deadlines (check w/EDUC department) Must also apply to graduate school (apply on-line) CSU-Chico Credential program prerequisites: BA and Subject Matter Competence (SMC) Candidate Disposition Form Additional Courses: ENGL 471 and EDTE 302 Passing the CBEST test (Required observation hours and other prerequisite courses built into the PETE program; which saves about 9 units)

SUBJECT MATTER COMPETENCE The state of CA requires competence in your subject matter by degree (“waiver”) or test (CSET), so you must either: Complete the SMC “waiver” program (BA) in PETE (must request from the advisor, who then writes a letter in P-1): With a 2.75 GPA in the major or a cumulative 2.67 GPA No lower than “C-” in any PETE courses. or Pass the CSET for Physical Education This is not recommended because it is expensive, not valid, and they provide no feedback.
