The Wright Brother’s exploration in flight was a key factor in the expansion and exchange of ideas in making flight possible Thesis Statement

The Wright Brother’s, by David McCullough, depicts two humble and dedicated brothers who explored the possibilities of flying, changing the history of flight forever. Initially, Wilbur explored flight by devising an aerodynamic control system for aircraft and built a kite to test it. Encouraged by this, the brothers flew gliders refining their control system. Soon after, they built a wind tunnel and conducted research on wing shapes. Not long after, the Wright brothers made the first controlled, sustained powered flight at Kitty Hawk, proving that exploring one’s dreams and perseverance can bring these visions to reality.

(Put on note card, not on slide) This passage is significant as it shows that the brothers “encountered” disbelievers from many people, yet they never gave up “Some skeptics have suggested that the image does not depict a real flight at all. The over the ground distance of Orville’s first attempt, they note, was only 120 feet — only fifteen feet farther than Wilbur’s abortive first attempt on December 14. Neither of the trials achieved a distance of 300 feet, which, the Wrights later suggested, was the point after which an aviator has achieved sustained flight, and “…has really done something.”
5
This epitomizes the Wright Brother’s true hearts as explorers who do not take what is accepted by most as reality, but work to attain their own truth.
