Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems. 2.body mass index (BMI) exceeds 30 kg/ m 2, with the range 25-30 kg/m 2 defined as overweight.

3 Obesity is most commonly caused by 1.a combination of excessive food energy intake. 2.lack of physical activity. 3. genetic susceptibility, although a few cases are caused. 4. endocrine disorders. 5.medications. 6. psychiatric illness.

5 1. In modern Western culture, excess weight is often regarded as unattractive, and obesity is commonly associated with various negative stereotypes. 2. Obesity is stigmatized in much of the modern world,though it was widely seen as a symbol of wealth and fertility at other times in history and still is in some parts of the world. 3. obese workers are treated unfairly, and may be targeted by bullies or shunned by their peers.

6 1. Obesity is a leading preventable cause of death worldwide, with increasing rates in adults and children. 2. as one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century. 3. In 2013, the ”American Medical Association” classified obesity as a disease.

9 Insulin resistance (IR) is a pathological condition in which cells fail to respond to the normal actions of the hormone insulin. Symptoms 1. High blood sugar 2. Sleepiness, especially after meals 3. Weight gain, fat storage, difficulty losing weight 4. Brain fogginess and inability to focus 5. Increased hunger

10 1. Be active 2. Follow a healthy eating plan 3. Reduce screen time 4. Keep track of your weight, body mass index, and waist circumference

11 A. The speaker, Peter just want to talk that what we always think correct is not always true. B.propose the new perspective that obesity is not the origin of many of disease. EX: Insulin resistance is resulted in obesity? OR Insulin resistance is resulted from obesity?

12 Question everything and not always tradition. Obesity is one of the factors of many diseases, but in fact obesity would have more hidden factor than we thought. We can not always blame obesity. Science is progressive, as if anything like the traditional to blame obesity, then will block the progress of science.
