BEFORE an earthquake, identify safe places in your area: Under tables/desks Next to an interior wall If outside, move to an open space away from buildings, power lines and streetlights DURING an earthquake DROP, COVER & HOLD AFTER an earthquake, follow the directions of staff and wardens Earthquake

Upon hearing an alarm: Immediately leave the building via the nearest safe exit Assemble at emergency assembly area Look out for these signs for more info Follow instructions from building wardens Wardens wear fluorescent vests Keep out of the building until an ‘all clear’ is given from the building warden Evacuation

For an ambulance, make 2 phone calls : 1.Call 111 – state clearly your location 2.Call Security on ext 5030 (or 06 3505030 on cell) Security will attend and/or escort the ambulance If you injure yourself on campus, in class, at the gym, etc. Report it to: Residential advisors Your lecturers, tutors or course administrators Facilities Management Help Desk or the Contact Centre Why? – so that the issue can be investigated to prevent similar injuries Medical Emergencies

Smoke Free Policy All University buildings are totally smoke free The smoke free policy applies ‘24/7’ All staff, students, visitors and contractors are expected to abide by the smoking policy On campus grounds, no smoking is permitted: Within 10 metres of University buildings On the Concourse from the Registry steps to beyond the Science Towers
