In Medias Res Latin Latin phrase meaning: “in the midst of things” Definition Definition: A literary technique of telling a story from the midpoint, rather than the beginning. For example, in The Odyssey we first learn about Odysseus' journey when he is held captive on Calypso's island. However, later in the story we are told that the largest part of his journey actually took place before that moment.

flashback What is a flashback? flashback In literature and dramatic media, a scene that takes the story back in time from the current point is a flashback.
