Urban Farming You are an environmental engineer seeking to revolutionize the urban farming practices in New York City. You would like to collaborate with urban farmers in Tokyo because Tokyo’s local agriculture produces enough vegetables to feed almost 700,000 city dwellers. You will need to conduct research to determine the institution or scientist best fit for this collaboration and come up with a plan to overcome obstacles such as time difference and language barrier. Then, develop an urban farming model that can be used in NYC. Green Energy You are an environmental activist that is passionate about green energy. Your goal is to communicate best practices in sustainable energy. You will need to research the methods used by countries that use 80%- 100% green energy; such as Iceland, Lesotho, Albania, Paraguay, Bhutan, Mozambique, and Norway. Create a plan for green energy that can be communicated across cultures. Ensure that your methods will be viable solutions for at least two different cultures speaking different languages taking the geography of the country into consideration. ( Ideas for communication: Visual Flyer/ Info Graphics or PSA with translated subtitles)

Real World Prompt: The World Health Organization says that every year more than 3.4 million people die as a result of water related diseases, making it the leading cause of disease and death around the world. Most of the victims are young children, the vast majority of whom die of illnesses caused by organisms that thrive in water sources contaminated by raw sewage. Design challenge: You work for the World Health Organization and you have been given the task of designing. a solar cooker that will heat water to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the temperature that is needed to pasteurize, the microorganisms that cause diseases from drinking contaminated water.
