Warm UP! 1.Name two reasons deforestation happens. There is a need for wood from trees - paper, building materials... We need to clear land to use the space - farming, urbanization, space for recreation

Warm UP! 2. If we cut down trees, what happens to...? a. oxygen? = decrease b. carbon dioxide? = increase Is this bad? YES! Trees do the opposite we do, We breath in oxygen then exhale CO2

Warm UP! 3. Predict: Why is West Virginia the 2 nd coal producer? Think about how coal is made -ancient trees and plants (swamps) - West Virginia = used to be a swamp and was buried by sediments over time.

Student Bingo For each letter, find one person who can complete that task. Write each name in one of the boxes below. Be sure the student can complete each task. If the student cannot answer, your box will be disqualified and your bingo round will end

Student Bingo If you sign someone’s bingo square then YOU are expected to COMPLETE activity I will be randomly checking student’s knowledge If you cannot answer satisfactory- then you will have to complete the activity on paper
