7. What are we trying to achieve? Reduce the dependence on fossil fuel Change the energy in the earth we have in abundance in the form of heat/hot water to the form of electricity that we can readily use. The Geothermal Development project seeks to bring the hot water to the surface where it can then be used in a steam turbine engine to generate electricity.
