WHAT TYPE OF ANIMAL IS AN ELEPHANT? An elephant is a mammal. A mammal is an animal that is warm blooded, gives live birth to it’s babies, has hair, and makes milk for it’s babies.

WHAT KIND OF BODY COVERING DOES IT HAVE? An elephant has wrinkly, grey skin and some hair.

WHAT DOES AN ELEPHANT LOOK LIKE? An elephant is big and grey. They have long trunks and floppy ears.

WHAT DOES AN ELEPHANT LIKE TO EAT? Elephants are herbivores so that means they eat plants. They eat off of trees and eat other plants off of the ground.

WHAT ARE ELEPHANT BABIES LIKE? Baby elephants are born with black fur. When they get a little older they look like their parents.

WHERE DO ELEPHANTS LIVE? Elephants live in Europe, Asia and Africa. They can live in grasslands, forests, or savanna.

AFRICAN ELEPHANTS ARE THE LARGEST LAND MAMMAL ON THE PLANET.

ELEPHANTS HAVE A SIXTH TOE.

ELEPHANTS CAN SWIM. THEY USE THEIR TRUNK TO BREATH LIKE A SNORKEL IN DEEP WATER.
