1. Today's Students - Tomorrow's Drivers

2. The 16 high school students in the 11 th C grade, Liceul Tehnologic Meserii si Servicii from Buzau, Romania, started working together for their project ‘Today’s Students – Tomorrow’s Drivers’.

3. They started thinking about the things they can do in order to reduce the number of car accidents in their town.

4. They came up with some ideas such as: spots into the ground on the zebra crossings, more speed bumps nearby zebra crossings, etc. One of the students thought of the fact that knowing road signs is essential to safe driving.

5. The starting point of their project was a survey related to their wish to become drivers.

6. The findings were: all of them wanted to get the driving license, 2 of them are already 18 years old and they can get it, one of them knows less than 5 road signs and the others know less than 10 road signs.

7. All of them identified the major problem of their town: the huge number of the car accidents. They decided that the first step in becoming good drivers is knowing road signs.

8. And their aim was to find ideas in order to reduce the number of the car accidents Based on their findings, the students decided that they must know the road signs and they applied the concept ‘Learning by doing’.

9. They shared their ideas and their initiatives, too. Each of them drew a road sign and presented it to the whole class.

10. They chose the best 3 ideas for a safer environment in their community: every zebra crossing should have traffic lights building underground passages for pedestrians

11. They decided together that the most important idea is the building of a zebra crossing in front of their high school.

12. Our high school is After that, they created an exhibition in which they displayed their works for the other students of the high school. Their plan is to draw and know 16 new road signs every month.
