Different kinds of POLYGONS

What is polygon? A polygon is a closed figure made by joining line segments, where each line segment intersects exactly two others.

TRIANGLE The triangles of a polygon are the triangles created by drawing line segments from one vertex of a polygon to all the others.

QUADRILATERAL a quadrilateral is a polygon with four edges (or sides) and four vertices or corners. Sometimes, the term quadrangle is used, by analogy with triangle, and sometimes tetragon for consistency with pentagon (5- sided), hexagon (6-sided) and so on. The origin of the word "quadrilateral" is the two Latin words quadri, a variant of four, and latus, meaning "side".

PENTAGON In geometry, a pentagon (from the Greek πέντε pente and γωνία gonia, meaning five and angle) is any five- sided polygon or 5-gon. The sum of the internal angles in a simple pentagon is 540°. A pentagon may be simple or self-intersecting.

HEXAGON In geometry, a hexagon (from Greek ἕξ hex, "six" and γωνία, gonía, "corner, angle") is a 6-sidedpolygon or 6- gon. The total of the internal angles of any hexagon is 720°.

HEPTAGON A heptagon is a seven- sided polygon. It also has seven vertices and angles. A regular heptagon is a heptagon that has congruent sides and angles.

OCTAGON In geometry, an octagon (from the Greek ὀκτάγωνον oktágōnon, "eight angles") is an 8- sided polygon or 8-gon. A regular octagonhas Schläfli symbol {8} and can also be constructed as a quasiregular truncated square, t{4}, which alternates two types of edges.

NONAGON In geometry, a nonagon /ˈnɒnəɡɒn/ (or enneagon /ˈɛniːəɡɒn/) is a nine-sided polygon or 9-gon. The name "nonagon" is a prefix hybrid formation, from Latin (nonus, "ninth" + gonon), used equivalently, attested already in the 16th century in French nonogone and in English from the 17th century.

DECAGON A regular decagon has all sides of equal length and each internal angle will always be equal to 144°.Its Schläfli symbol is {10} and can also be constructed as a truncated pentagon, t{5}, a quasiregular decagon alternating two types of edges.
